Helping keep British Motorcycles on the road for over 30 years - established 1977

1968 Triumph Bonneville

Sold 06/20/2011

Recently rebuilt 1968 Triumph Bonneville Motorcycle.
I am only the 2nd owner of this bike. I am friends with the original owner who bought it new in 1968 and then parked it in 1972. It has less than 20,000 miles on it and less than 500 since it was rebuilt. It runs strong and sounds so sweet. Most of its life since '72, the bike was stored in a carpeted basement rec room.
The motor and gearbox was professionally rebuilt by a dealer in Montreal (Moto-Montreal) that has been working on these bikes for over 30 years. There is over $6000 in the engine work alone as I specified that I wanted an engine that would be bulletproof for many, many miles.
All replacement parts were genuine NOS Triumph parts or quality British made replacements where available.
The rebuild also included complete new electrics including a Pazon electronic ignition system and a Accel coil. Tank was solid but I sealed it with Caswell sealer and installed quality brass petcocks. The frame was stripped and then sealed with epoxy primer and multiple coats of DuPont Imron chassis paint (as was all painted parts). The mudguards are the original stainless steel parts. It may not be a concourse type restoration (I did not want to paint it the 1968 factory colours) but it is a solid rebuild of a great bike. It is babied, stored indoors and has never seen rain since the rebuild.
It has brand new Amal carbs on it that came with sleeved slides so that they will last many years. They still need some fine tuning but once the bike warms up it runs flawlessly. (I do not have the choke connected)
I am selling it for the price suggested to me when I had it appraised before it was even completed. I have receipts totalling over $10K at that time and much has been done since. I can show a prospective buyer the appraisal and the receipts (in person obviously).

I am asking $9,500 CDN.

Please note that I will not ship the bike. Face to face final transaction only. If you want to arrange shipping yourself after the transaction you are welcome to keep the bike with me for a short period of time. Payment by bank draft or certified cheque only.
