1939 Triumph Tiger

Sold 01/15/2013

Hi Mark! I'm restoring a Sq4 at present and have so many bikes I can't turn around without getting speared by a handlebar. You probably know that '39 was the first year for Ed Turner's Tiger 500 which set the standard for all British twins for the next 20 years. This one is a real beauty with some original era mods and a bit of history.

There's a story that it's owner, Bob McGill was a photog in LA and one night at a party MM's escort got drunk and she asked ol' Bob to give her a ride home. As a thank you she invited him to visit her on her movie set. This may or not be true, but I have some photos he took that seem to say it is. In any case its a great bike, and is featured on page 22 of "Triumph Motorcycles in America".

My old pal Zeke says its worth $25,000. but $24,500. will take it and I can get on with my Sq4 rebuild.
