Costa's Rocket3 / P11 Hybrid

Questions and answers:

Q: Did Ron Voot have to spread the P11 frame rails to fit the triple cases?
A: I’m not sure about that at all. It’s not something I’d thought to look for.

Q: What on earth is that tank off? Looks vaguely familiar like maybe off an oilframe Tri/BSA single, but I thought those had a smaller Monza cap.
A: I believe it’s an alloy Gold Star tank. Ron cut the front away, and hung the oil cooler from it. At the moment, I’m inclined to keep the tank, but I have also considered relocating the oil cooler to in front of the fork yokes, and using an alloy B50 tank. We’ll see.

Q: Nice finned clutch release inspection cover, is that an old ARE cover?
A: Yes. I have a similar cover for the points cavity, to hide the TriSpark ignition unit.

Q: Is that black anodizing? Looks great, probably helps heat dissipation, too.
A: It’s SPRAY.BIKE bicycle frame paint. The aim is to make it look like magnesium alloy cases, while covering up the nicks and scratches. It’s supposed to be pretty durable stuff.

Q: Those sure are oooogly shocks, so I imagine they must have some redeeming value like really long travel or something? What brand? REAL ooogly!!!! ☺
A: lol! They’re Progressive Suspension Magnum shocks. I bought them from you, years and years ago! I had them briefly on a B50, but the LH one was a little too close to the chain. Not a problem on the P11 frame.
