1965 BSA Lightning
Clean old BSA Lightning survivor old school custom. The custom features are metalflake purple paint on tank and side covers, chromed engine side covers, custom seat cover with diamond stitching and buttons and a bobbed rear fender. Paint on the tank is excellent, side covers are fine, but a couple square inches on the right side one have flaked off in a fairly inconspicuous spot. Engine and frame appears stock, with the exception of two bolts that were brazed on the frame near the rear foot pegs. It would be very easy to return this BSA to stock.
Starts and runs fine, usually on the first or second kick. Shifts fine and runs strong and idles well with no unusual mechanical noise or smoke. New fork boots, front brake cable, timing set, all fluids fresh. Engine and frame #s match.
Rear fender was bobbed and has cracked at the tail light mounting. Each side cover is missing a fastening screw. The speedo and tach were purchased separately and I installed them on the motorcycle. They have no cables and are untested, so I am unsure of their condition. They look good. I entered 10 miles in the milage discription, but milage is unknown. Sold with no battery.
I purchased this machine from a longtime collector here in Maine. It has not been registered or on the road for many years. I have fetteled it and test run it on private back roads.
The State of Maine does not issue titles on vehicles older then 15 years, so this motorcycle will be sold with a Bill of Sale. Please check with your local DMV regarding registration.
