Series C Vincent Rapide
Sold 02/18/2016
The Vincent has sold. I had a very good response from your ad.
I had one call from New York plus two local buyers who came out to view the bike.
Thanks very much
Glen
I'm selling my Series C Vincent Rapide. This is not a matching numbers bike.
The entire bike was restored to a very high standard by the late John McDougall. It's well known in the Vincent World that a McDougall engine is as good as it gets. I have been to West Coast Vincent rallies where almost every bike that was ridden rather than trailered had a McDougall engine. He always built Vincents for longhaul touring and hard use, no compromises in standards of quality were acceptable to him.
This Rapide has covered just 2500 miles since it's extensive restoration. The previous owner had John do the restoration. He told John to spare no expense, so the list of new parts is very long. For example, when it came to the wheels, the following parts were used-
-new stainless steel axles
-new wheel bearings
-new brake shoes and brake cams
-new Shadow type ribbed brake drums
-new spoke hubs
-new alloy Sun rims and stainless steel spokes from Buchanans
-new tires and tubes.
The only part reused on the wheels were the brake plates. The entire restoration was done to this standard, so the bike really is in as new condition, or as close as one can get. It also has all of the little tricks and improvements that John always incorporated in his restorations.
All wear parts in the engine were replaced with new items. The crank was rebuilt by Maughans and received their Alpha Big Pin Racing big end plus new mainshafts.
A complete list of new parts used and work done is available on request.
