1971 Triumph Bonneville
Matching Numbers.
Here’s a great example of a 1971 Triumph Bonneville, 5 speed. I purchased this bike 8 years ago in
California from a collection of early Triumphs. I’m the third owner as the bike has only 6800 original
miles. An un-molested Oil-in-frame Triumph edition with it’s original gold/black scallion trim.
A small pre-production of the 5 speed transmission featured in 1972 was offered at the end of the 71
production year. This is one of those low number produced, (200), 5 speed models. They were factory
T120R models with the “V” stamped on separately when the transmissions were installed. They were
externally identical to the T120R models and did not feature the “V” decals like the 1972 Bonnevilles.
New tires were installed when I bought the bike and now have less than 900 miles on them. Turn on the
fuel, prime the carbs and 1 or 2 kicks and you’re off for some fun on a British classic. Leaks a tad of oil
like it should and runs like a bat out of Coventry. I’m now restoring an older car and need the room.
Thanks for your consideration.
