This US made heavy-duty ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) block is mounted using ¼ inch hole in crankcase over gearbox sprocket on unit construction Triumph twins, to help save case from damage in case of a broken rear chain, and replaces the hard to find steel version that Triumph offered.
Drop in installation except on some early models which may not have this hole, but it can be easily drilled with engine assembled and in frame.
Excellent idea, the crank case protector. I've seen way too many busted cases caused by snapped chains on unit construction
