This filter is for use on the
crankcase breather vent when the original airfilter assembly is removed and
three K&N assemblies 633-RC17 are installed, on all
Triumph and BSA Triples except the T160. The original breather hose is routed
into the stock airfilter assembly so another method of filtering the crankcase
vapours must be found when removing it. Leaving the hole open to the atmosphere
is not a good idea, since oily vapour can escape and dirt can be ingested. This
item does an excellent job of filtration while looking good at the same time.
The diameter of the flange tube on the breather is slightly smaller than the
breather tube on the cover, but this can be compensated for by using a bit of
duct tape to make the outside diameters the same, and the original hose can then
be shortened to use with the filter. Alternately, another hose of appropriate
dimensions can be used if desired.
